La Rochelle, France - Bayonne, France - Pasaia, Spain.

The Bay of Biscay. Filming of the Black Swan movie, about the hunt for Spanish gold.

9 nights and 8 days on board. 300 nautical miles.

After the whole winter in La Rochelle, the 2021 sailing season is finally here!!!

We board on April 11th, 1600, in La Rochelle, get you settled, do a safety speech and get ready for an ocean passage.
Next day at 0715 we sail out, bound for the picturesque and cozy Bay of Pasaia with a stop over in  Bayonne, France.

Depending on the weather forecast we would have a couple of different options. Either we are going to sail directly South, to Bayonne, or to spend a night by the French islands Ile d’Aix or Ile d’Yeu, enjoying some France speciality such as gathering oysters at low tide.

With following wind we can reach Pasaia in 2 days. If the wind is against us, it might take up to 4. Either way we have plenty of time to explore and plunder Bayonne on our way to Spain.

Underway you are going to learn how to set and trim sails, steer the ship, handle the lines, use the weather forecast and plan a passage. In other words, plenty of practical seamanship.

We plan to be dockside in Pasaia on April 17th, in the evening, and disembark on April 18th, noon time, so you have some time to enjoy the city before your departure.

Next day starts filming of The Black Swan series. This is a project of the famous director Alejandro Amenabar about the real life story of the tall ship Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes carrying gold and silver. (The story is known as Black Swan Project).

As a deckhand on board Shtandart you can participate in filming. To do so apply for the trips 19th to 24th and 25th to 30th of April.
