Sum and substance
A passage to Britain and the first port of call of the Tall Ship Races regatta. We’re leaving our cozy Schengen area for a change and sailing to England. You will need a British visa, but think about all the new places you can see! And what can be better than sailing to Britain aboard a three-masted frigate?
James Cook was outbound from here. Kruzenshtern and Lisyansky visited Great Britain too. First we cross the North Sea ending up in Sunderland. Tall ships from all over the world will gather there, so a lively festival and all sorts of celebratory hustle and bustle is guaranteed. Both in port and underway we’d be preparing for the race, tuning the rig and sails and working on maneuvering the ship under sail.
Itinerary
Outbound from Amsterdam we either set a course straight for Britain across the open sea or stop by one of the neighboring towns.
It’ll take us two or three days in the open to get to the British shore, once we’re there, we’ll stop by one of the small towns along our route. Say Whitby or Hartlepool.
