New year - Balearic Islands - Sea practice

Route map

The oncoming New Year is remembered not only by fireworks, gifts and fancy trees - the most important thing is that we all can enjoy long weekends. Taken with the proverbial sign "The way you meet the new year is the way you will spend it", this means that we simply have to put to sea!

This time the trip from Valencia to Barcelona is planned around the Balearic Islands.
We look forward to seeing old friends and like-minded people on board - from year to year, Shtandart always calls together excellent crews!

Certainly, the trip program will be drawn up around two main lines: First of all, (fun) sea practice - we are sure that this is exactly what calls you to the sea and will give high satisfaction. Laying aloft, making sails and turns.
Watches at the helm and navigation tricks - in general, a pleasant feeling of having got new skills and put nature under control.

The second line is obvious: the celebration of the New Year.
After a day-and-night passage and eventual ship motions, having reliably moored in one of the cozy Mediterranean marinas, we will lay the table all together, clear the deck for dancing (optional), and take out our piano and guitars.
Hooray for fun and holidays!

The exact route, as always, depends on the weather. Our plan is to sail from Valencia to Palma de Mallorca or to Ibiza, probably, stopping over the Columbretes Islands, where we can drop anchor right in the volcanic vent.

The Columbretes Islands are volcanic. They have amazing, almost unique shape. The Columbretes archipelago consisting of several small islands was declared a national reserve back in 1988 and is now protected by government. Here you can find an insane amount of muraenas and other most colorful Mediterranean fish species living among seaweed and coral reefs. Rare and beautiful birds live on the rocks that we can see close up from the ship.

Depending on the wind, we can sail round Majorca from southward, and in this case we will have the opportunity to anchor at Porto Cristo or Portocolom, or go to Alcudia, or else go northward (where Port de Sóller is located) and immediately set a course for Barcelona.

Welcome aboard, cast off the lines and... Happy New Year!

You have to arrive on board on the day of the start of the trip no later than 12.00 (if it is not mentioned in your instruction letter).

All crew members get through mandatory safety and alarm instructions. From the first day the crew is divided into watches and begins to ensure the daily life on board and en-route travel of the ship.
All trips are full of sea practice: from the very first day offshore you will steer the ship, work with sails and rigging, and also together with watch-mates do the cooking in the caboose or clean up. We do not have passengers - we travel as one big family.

Sea experience for participation is not at all required - we will teach you everything that we know, and knowledge comes easier in a friendly atmosphere. Lessons learned can be used on a yacht or just in your daily life: you will get not only maritime knowledge, but also you will know yourself better.

The fee includes all the costs related to the trip - you won't need to spend money on anything other than souvenirs in the port. You need to get a Schengen multiple-entry visa, buy tickets, purchase insurance covering outdoor activities and pack up.
